General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Hemorrhoidectomy can cause lots of pain even after 9 days as the part of the skin along with the hemorrhoids is removed and takes time for healing. On bowel movements the stool touches the bare wound and thus causes lots of pain along with a possible spasm of the anal sphincters.

Hence the need of sitz bath in a tub with warm water. Continue Psyllium husk with 2 glasses of warm water to be best effective. You can take an anti-inflammatory with painkiller properties like Ibuprofen if it suits you. This will take care of pain and inflammation. Codeine does cause constipation and hence best avoided.

As for the diet, my advise to all my patients is o revert back to the full normal diet as you were taking before surgery. Try nothing new. Continue rest of the medications as have been advised. Consult your Operating Surgeon once for review of the wound and situation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
