Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I have high blood pressure I ve been taking lisinopril for years. My doctor put me on Valsartan/hydrochlathyazide instead but it s making my heart race and my blood pressure is still reading 149/107 what can I do to lower that? I have lisinopril left but I took the other earlier today so how long do I have to wait before I can take my own pills again
If you was comfortable with lisinopril why he changed this don't know . If blood pressure was not adequately controlled on lisinopril the best strategy in my view is to add hydrochlorthiazid with that or we can increase the dose.there is no additional benefits of valsartan over losartan. So in my opinion you can discus this with your physician why he changed that. .and you are not comfortable with new one.he will solve your problem and help you. Hope this will help.
