Severe diarrhea with shivering, backache, headache and muscle cramps are indicative of severe intestinal infection along with septicemia. This is an emergency, hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Rush to the nearby hospital or ER for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations: Tests of blood for CBC, liver, kidney functions, electrolytes, culture and sensitivity. Stool test. Ultrasonography of abdomen with X-ray of the abdomen in standing position. Get started on intravenous fluids and antibiotics, electrolytes and symptomatic treatment. Once the symptoms are under control, get started with soft bland diet, plenty of oral fluids and electrolyte solution. Boiled and cooled water only.
