How Can Constipation With Acidity Be Treated?

Hi,
My father's age is 59 years, 5'9" height and 50-55kg weight. He has been suffering with extreme constipation from 3 months as well as with acidity from a long time. Now a days, he is not able to eat anything. He feels always tired and week..please help.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain constipation can occur due to a number of causes like lack of dietary fibres,stress, side effect of medication, lack of physical activity, Irritable bowel syndrome, laxative abuse etc..
I would suggest you to consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Colonoscopy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to take a high fibre diet with plenty of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits in diet.
Drink appropriate water..
DO walk after meals..
You can also take fibre supplements like Docusate and laxatives like Polyethylene glycol..
For acid reflux you can be advised to take proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole and Pantoprazole..
Antacids can be advised before meals..
Prescription medicines like Linclotide and Lubiprostone can be advised for constipation..
