History Of Hysterectomy. Have Anxiety Attack. Does Surgery Affect Hormones?

I had a hysterectomy in July - removed my cervix and kept both ovaries. I have suffered from anxiety/panic attacks in the past but had not had a problem with them for at least three years. About five weeks after the surgery, I had a full blown anxiety attack and am still trying to recover from the anxiety. My question is: has this surgery affected my hormones even though I have my ovaries. I have read many things about the ovaries going into shock from the uterus being removed, but I can t seem to find anything from a medical website to confirm this. My doctor told me that my hormones should not be affected because I still have my ovaries. What is the truth about this?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Your hormonal function or levels would not be affected if your ovaries were not removed.

The uterus and cervix are not involved in the production of hormones.

It is unlikely that any hormonal changes occurred with the surgery that would have resulted in the panic attack.

I hope this helps

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
As you stated that ovaries are still there , hence I wan to tell you that , how it acts.
Pituitary gland secrets F S H which stimulates follicles present around ovaries on both side , hence follicles secrets ESTROGEN hormone.
Pituitary gland secretes L H hormone which stimulates follicles which become empty after ovulation .
So when ovaries present there would be secretion from follicles.
Good luck.
