Having Intense Pain During Intercourse, Rough Bumpy Spot. HPV?

I have been having intense pain during intercourse which I have about 4-5 times a day. Recently I noticed a rough bumpy spot and I wondered if this could be a callous from over use? I went to the doctor and they couldn t figure it out at that moment so I have a follow up appointment but at the time they mentioned it could be HPV . I have been tested before and use protection. I was just wondering how likely this is. Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

If you have had your bump like swelling seen by your doctor and they have suspected HPV, it might need to gt investigated. HPV is human papilloma virus and it causes genital warts. The skin eruptions can vary from a single swelling to a cluster or crop like appearance. It is not painful but can cause itching in later stages.

Transmission of HPV is also there through close skin contact. So, if you had used protection during sex, there still exists a possibility of getting HPV infection. The pain in the swelling can be due to friction during intercourse. Treatment is often by removal of the warts by the doctor.

Hope this helps
