Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic disease affecting all the synovial joints and will lead to deformities in advanced stages.
I dont understand the reason why you are taking 3 different pain killers at night (nucoxia mr, indocap sr & lofecam). These drugs will produce lot of side effects used over a period of time (I dont know since how long you have been taking them). I suggest you to stop all the pain killers mentioned above and take only
paracetamol extended release tablets ( Lanol -ER) daily as this will produce far lesser side effects.
DMARD's ( Disease modifying antirheumatic drugs) form the main stay of treatment in RA. Among all the DMARD's,
METHOTREXATE will produce good therapeutic effect and is fast acting also. LEFLUNAMIDE is another newer drug that works effectively for RA. Anyway, all these DMARD,s are to be taken only after consulting an orthosurgeon/
rheumatologist as they to produce lot of side effects.
Inorder to prevent deformities of joints, regular
physiotherapy is a must by way of stretching and passive / active movements.
Hope this information is helpful
