Have Psychotic Episodes, Passing Out. Addicted To Lortab, Klonopin, Xanax, Adderall, Alcohol, Marijuana. How To Quit This Habit?

My adult drug addict son has found a negligent doctor to prescribe his favorite drugs. He is abusing Lortab; Klonopin, Xanax and Adderall, including using Adderall intravenously. He also consumes alcohol, marijuana, other prescription medications and illegal drugs. I am desperately trying to get forced legal treatment for him. None of the pharmacies I contacted were supportive of my son's prescriptions. He is having psychotic episodes, passing out, and has had to have emergency medical treatment. He has been in active severe addiction for 16 years.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,
Its been courageous of you to help your son out of addiction of drugs.
He is taking Benzodiazepine, Cannabis, Alcohol and Amphetamine. If he is taking them on regular basis which I suspect he would be, then he must be in withdrawal syndrome of more than one substance. The psychotic episodes and passing out a part of withdrawal and needs immediate medical attention. He may also have seizures and delirium due to withdrawal of these substance.
You are very right in seeking a forced legal treatment if he doesnt volunteer for it.
I suggest you arrange for indoor psychiatric management for him, sooner the better. And once his withdrawal is settled then he should be convinced for the rehab program. He may not be able to maintain abstinence without it. This will require support from you.
The substance has already taken 16 productive years of his life and I understand your concern. I wish him speedy recovery and productive life.
Hope your concerns are answered. Feel free to ask any more doubts.
Regards.
