Have Pain And Swelling In Inner Labia. Bleeds When Wiped. Suggestions?
I woke up yesterday morning with an abrasion to my inner labia between the urethra and vaginal opening. It is very painful and today seems to be swelling into the outer labia. It also is burning and sometimes when I wipe it will bleed very light onto the tissue. Any ideas on what it could be?? I am single and have not had any sex or anything?? I am 49 and been apart from my partner for almost 3 years.
Hello, thanks for using Health Care Magic. An abrasion is a cut or wearing injury inflicted through friction. If that is the actual cause of what you are describing then it is possible that the lesion is infected with bacteria producing the characteristic symptoms you are describing. Swelling and pain are as a result of the inflammatory process going on in a bit to control the infection. Without abrasion it is also possible to have a skin infection which could present with ulcerative lesions there by producing the pain and bleeding you are complaining of. What you should do is cleaning with an antiseptic like chlorexhidine twice daily, apply an antibiotic cream ( neomycin say) for a week but however the better option will be to see a doctor for proper examination and appropriate prescription.
