Is It Possible That The Surgery Messed With My Cycle?

I had rhinoplasty 3 week ago and my period came early by a week (a few days after surgery). Then it started again when it was due but not normal just spotting for longer than a period would last.
Is it possible that the surgery messed with my cycle? And how long until it gets back on track?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Surgical procedure, anesthesia and post operative medication can cause hormonal imbalance in body, which can cause temporary irregularity in menstruation. It would get back to normal pattern in few months. In case it does not within 3 months, please get checked to find other cause of the problem.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
