Have Large Fibroids, Energy Levels Decreased, On Mirena. What To Do?

Hi, I am 42 yrs old and have been large fibroids which have really started to give me health issues. My energy levels has decreased and feeling over all horrible. Nutritionally extremely low. I have been on the mirena for nearly 5 yrs and also valette. My specialist has advised for me to get a Hysterectomy as my mother has also just been diagnosed with uterine cancer . I m not sure if this is the correct path or not. I haven t got children and not sure if I wont to anyway.

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these fibroids and the inconveniences they have caused you.

From the informtion youhave provided, i think you would very much benefit from a surgical intervention. Hysterectomy should be the best if you are sure of the fact that you wouldn't want to get any pregnancy. At 42, the chances and risks of pregnancy are concerning and you should really think whether it is an option that you would want to consider.

If you are not 100% sure about not wanting to get pregnant, you can always have a surgery which removes only the fibroids and keep the uterus inplace. This would relief you of the symptoms. However, the risk of cancer related to the uterus remains. This doesn't mean that you would for sure have it but you need to be aware of it. This gives you the chqnce to make your childbearing decision later if need be.

I hope this helps. Thank you for using our services.
I wish you well.
