Have Ear Infection, Ear Ache. Using Ciproxin Ear Drops, Taken Cephalexin Before. Allergic To Amoxyl

I have an outer ear infection, am using Ciproxin ear drops, and now have quite strong earache. I have at home a full scrip for Cephalexin, given to me by the doctor when I went on holiday for emergencies. I have taken this drug before successfully, and am allergic to Amoxyl. Can this harm me if I do not have an inner ear infection?

No it will not harm you even if you do not have inner ear infection. It will harm you if you are allergic to it. Please use a combination of antibiotic, antifungal, anaesthetic and lignocaine. It will cover the other aspects also as you are not responding to antibiotic drops alone. But mind it all this will work only if your diagnosis of external ear infection is correct. Otherwise there can lot of causes of ear ache and you need to see an ENT for that. Regards
