Have Chronic, Dull Pain Starting Above Lower Rib. Do Swimming, Could Be Pulled Muscle. Suggest?

I have a chronic , dull pain that starts above my lowest rib on rib cage and almost feels like when you think your lung has caught on a rib. I think it is just a pulled muscle but am concerned it has gone on for over a week. I swim daily and maybe just a pulled muscle, since there are no organs right there but not sure...what do you think?? If they x ray it and broken won;t they just tape rib anyway?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

I have read your query and I would advise the following:

It looks like contusion to rib ,or there can be spleen or liver swelling.
You may need x ray and usg for further confirmation.
Till time rest well give support to rib cage.

I hope that I have answered your query. Let me know if I can help you further.

Take care
