Have Cerebral Palsey. Itching In Urethra Area, Enlarged Size Of Urethra Which Seems To Hang Out. Prescribed Ketoconozol. Normal?
I am 42 yr old female, I have cerebral palsey. I am in a wheelchair, but work full time drive a car am also married. I have always had some itching in my urethra area, not my vagina. Seems as I am getting older it is getting worse. Recently was at the Dr--she is treating as a yeast infection, I have Rx Ketoconozol. I do not feel that is what it is... is really not much better (has been 2 weeks) Also, my urethra seems to be larger than it used to be...does this happen as you get older. It seems to stick out/hang out now, is this normal?

The swelling or increased size may be related to the infection. Swelling occurs as part of an inflammatory response.
If the ketoconazole is not effective , you may want to consider having a swab done to specifically identify what organism is causing your symptoms . The lab would also do a sensitivity test which would determine which medication would work best against it.
