Have Bipolar Disorder. Mood Swings, Anger Issues. Concerned About Safety

I have an adult daughter who has been diagnosed with bipolar & other mental health issues. She receives disability due to her diagnosis. She needs help but she won't admit that she needs it. She also has a substance abuse issue and has for most of her life. She is on probation now due to drugs & has battled with "child-support" court for years(Always under threat of being jailed because of not paying child-support). Has episodes of rampages & rages where she goes off on people...especially us & father of her youngest son, who has full custody of him. I'm very concerned for her safety & others. How do I get her help? I've tried for years talking to counselors/and or drug treatment facilities, and I'm always told that she can't be helped if she's not willing!!! Frustrated Mother, Shirley

Hello.Substance abuse and bipolar disorder is a combination with multiple risks.
It is very difficult to improve if she is not aware of his illness and acts accordingly.Even going to a psychiatrist periodically,¿How can we ensure that they take their drugs every day, being essential drugs for improvement?
It's not easy, of course. The mental health professional should be primarily responsible for the treatment of his daughter. You should not feel frustrated, you do everything you can.
I wish you and your daughter good health.

Hello Mrs. Shirley
it seems your daughter has Bipolar Disorder type 1. The manic episode is characterized by loss of contact with reality so it is futile to expect her accept treatment. impulsive behavior, rage, trouble with law and drug abuse are common associated events. the best would be to consult a psychiatrist and put her on depot preparations of Antipsychotic medicines like Inj Risperal LA, inj Aripiprazole , Inj Olanzapine . These needs to be given once in 15-30 days . Psychiatric Nurse and social worker will help you out. Once she shows improvement, another mood stabilizer can be added
GOOD LUCK
