Has had body aches, back pain, dizziness, sweating. Should I get a tetanus shot?
My 31 year old son has had body aches, including neck and back pain severe dizziness, breaks into sweats and had just been feeling ill and doctoring for the past 2 months with no diagnosis. He works in a foundry which is somewhat of a dirty environment and has had minor lacerations, nothing serious. He just realized today that he has never had a tetanus shot. Could these symptoms be a mild case of tetanus because he does have some jaw tightness and aching too?
Hi! welcome to HCM! your son doesnot seem to be affected by tetanus as the disease progresses fast in many cases as the incubation period of tetanus is usually about eight days although it may be up to several months in very rare cases. The standard care practice in many places is to give the booster to any patient with a puncture wound who is uncertain of when he was last vaccinated, or if he had fewer than three lifetime doses of the vaccine. My advice is to get your son fully vaccinated for tetanus so that there is nothing to worry in future. Hope this will help you!
