Had Sunburn Reaction After Doxycycline. Using Aloe Vera Gel, Cold Compression But No Relief. What To Do To Tone Down The Redness?

I have been using 200mg of doxycycline daily and had a bad sunburn reaction. After 2 days I do not see any less reddening of the burn . How long will this redness last? I have been using Aloe Vera gel and cold compresses but haven't noticed much of a change. Is there anything I can do to tone down the redness? Is there a danger of real skin damage?

Hi thanks for writing to health care magic.Doxycycline is a phototoxic drug.Exposure of sun after taking drug leads to severe reaction.Stop the drug immediately.Avoid sun exposure as much as possible.Start taking anti histaminic tablet like tab.allegra180 mg at day time and tab.atarax 10 mg at night time.Apply steroid like momate cream twice daily over affected area.This will help to reduce redness.Once your disease is cured start applying sunscreen lotion and cover up exposed parts for at least 3 months.I hope this can solve your query.Take care.
