Had Cardiac Cath Through Right Arm. Ache In Arm Between Wrist And Elbow And Swelling. Advise?
I had cardiac cath procedure through my right arm last Wednesday. Everything was fine until Sunday, when my arm began to ache a bit between the wrist and elbow. On Monday the mild ache continued, along with some slight swelling. I applied ice for a few hours, and the ache and swelling abated, but a couple hours later both the ache and the swelling returned. What should I do?
Dear Sir Thanks for writing to us. After a cardiac catheterization through hand (radial artery approach), there may be a local infection or a clot in the radial artery. Both of them are treatable and have definite but different management protocols. Since an examination and possible early treatment is warranted I would recommend you to consult your cardiologist who has performed the procedure, on priority. Sincerely Sukhvinder
