Glute In Right Buttocks Very Painful Extending To Ankle. Unable To Stand And Pain While Walking

The Glute (?) in my right buttocks is extremely painful and the pain extends down the right leg to the ankle. I am unable to stand for anything more than a few minutes and walking is also painful. Bike riding does not cause any discomfort and sitting is ok but mild discomfort only. Regards, David Hart

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
If you are elderly then you might be having sciatica pain.
due to degenerative changes in your lumbo-sacral vertebrae there might be pressure or irritation on nerves giving rise to this problem.
Go for x-ray lumbo-sacral region.
Consult orthopedic surgeon and get examined.
Back extension exercises, short way diathermy and other physiotherapy will help you a lot.
Take calcium, vitamin A and D supplements.
Avoid weight lifting, bending forward.
Ok and take care.
