Eye Seems To Have Light Tan Colored Discharge, Was Being Bothered By Lash Earlier In The Day. Pink Eye Or Irritation?

After I took a shower this evening, I had an eye lash that was bothering my eye. Since then my eye has had a lot of light tannish colored discharge . Do I have pink eye or is my eye just irritated from rubbing it to get the lash out? It is red and slightly puffy but I think that is just from rubbing it. I also have a 17 month old, can he get it if I have pink eye?

Hello,

It is likely that the eyelash has bothered you and incited an allergic reaction too. It is likely to subside in a day or two. You can put lubricating eye drops such as refresh tears for a soothening effect. In case it is a pink eye , it will begin to water, become red or pink, cause discomfort. Viral conjunctivitis is the most common form of pink eye and yes , it is very contagious. However it is self limiting and will gradually disappear with a week or two. But the likelihood of an allergic reaction seems more likely in your case.

Regards
