Epilepsy. Have Been Asked To Take EEG & CT Scan. Is There Any Danger To Life?

Hello, I am a 16 yrs old female and I'm suffering from epillepsy since last 8 years. Till now, only d symptoms of disorder were seen in me, but day before yesterday I actually had an attack while I was returning home from a neighbour city with my family. The doctor has told me to go through EEG & CT scan and then the doctor will prescribe me medicines. I want to know if there is any danger to my life, health or carrier ??

Hi ! Epilepsy is a neurological disorder in which abnomal stimulus to the brain are generated which are seen in the EEG advised by your doctor. It may be idiopathic (without any cause) or may be secondary to any other problems for which you have been advised CT scan. There is no immediate danger to the life in case of epilepsy, if the patient follows doctor's advice and takes the treatment punctually. At the the time of attack, you may bite your tongue, or injure other body parts including the respiratory system. This is why you should not discontinue treatment as well without advice of your doctor.
Take care. Thanks.
