Done Blood Test. Need Help With Interpretation Of B12 And Folate Markers

Hi,

I have the following relevant blood results:

Vitamin B12 * 673 pmol/L ( 135 - 650 )
MCH * 32.3 pg ( 27.0 - 32.0 )
Red Cell Folate * 2351 nmol/L ( 776 - 1784 )
Urea * 8.2 mmol/L ( 3.0 - 8.0 )
ALT * 49 U/L ( 5 - 40 )

I understand that there appears to be some type of liver dysfunction, however I am not sure of the significants of the B12 ande Red cell folate markers.

I was on an extreme lean muscle gain diet consisting of around 500grams of protein per day (for a 73kg or 165lbs person) for just over 2 weeks prior to the blood draw. Essentially I was stuffing myself "clean" food in 3-4 large meals per day and having 1 fast day per week. I expected the results to change in relation to ALT,AST and a couple of other markers, however I am unfamiliar with the B12 and Folate markers. I am a qualified nutritionist that has had training in basic blood chemistry panels, however I'm unsure of how to interpret these markers. Any help would be appreciated.

hello there!
vitamin B12 and folate levels are erythropoesis helpers. their deficiency is a trouble for women mostly for their upset tummies and menstrual losses of blood. gasrointestinal tract is mostly responsible for b12 deficiencies they lead to megaloblastic anemia( red blood cells increase in volume and delays in production)vegetarians are aalso affected as meat etc has b12.
folates are necessary for DNA methylation, a stp necessary in maturation of RBCs again.
your folate and b12 levels are good. so no worries in your hematological profile.
now coming to your liver profile they are abit deranged.well it could be just because of fasting as fasting puts a little stress on liver and is harmless rather good for body as old reserves are utilized but fast should maximum of 18 hours. overtnight fasting is not good., stop this activity and you will be fine.
rerst you are nutritionist you need not to be told what balanced diet is and what are its necessities.

and if your sclera gets jaundiced or you started to feel itchy or any pain in hypochondrias below ribs or any vomit etc then do a complete liver function assessment to better assess state of liver but i am sure it wont come to that,
so cheers and have a good day

regards
