Does Small Sac In Uterus With Slow Bleeding And Small Clots After Taking Arthotec Suggest Completed Abortion?

Hi. My wife was 5 weeks pregnant. She took Arthotec tablets for 3 days. One tablet every morning, afternoon and night. So, 9 tablets in total. Also she placed 6 tablets vaginally on the first day. And 4 more in the vagina on the second day. This was prescribed by a local doctor. She started to bleed after 48 hours from the time of taking first tablet. But after ultrasound, we could still see a small sac in uterus today measuring about 1.4 cm. She is 5 weeks pregnant. Doctor prescribed Spasfon tablets today and told her to stop eating Arthotec. The bleeding is very slow and very small clots are coming out slowly. What should we do? Is the abortion complete?

while the abortion may be incomplete, as long as she is not bleeding heavily it is safe to continue taking the medication as your doctor has prescribed. this will help complete the abortion. if she starts to have very heavy bleeding or cramping, she should call her doctor right away as she may need to have it surgically removed. I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me if you have any more questions.
