I had the radioactive iodine treatment since 2007. Till now prescribe with thyroxin at first 50mcg per day. In the past 9mths, chg to 100mcg per mon-fri since my heart rate tend to slower. T4 were shot a little high at first. But then later ok close to upper normal range. In the last 2 months, Ive been suffered from serious insomnia. I wonder this is the side effect of the drug? I do not have any other symptoms of hyperthyroid. Thks doc Billy
Hi Billy The only time thyroxine might cause insomnia would be if the dosage were too high and so the patient would have been made hyperthyroid. Unless your TSH level is well below 1.0 I wouldn't blame the insomnia on the medication
