Dizziness While Standing Up. No Major Medical Problems, In Good Health. Any Ideas?
My husband has dizziness when he stands up, and he says he's just not right. He's 59 and is in good health, but is a few pounds overweight. He has never had any major medical problems at all. I just gave him 2 aspirin. What could be wrong? He's strong and is in good shape. This has been going on for about 2 days. He did eat a rather light lunch today considering what he normally eats.

Dizziness while standing up implies that in some elderly individuals if they suddenly stood up from lying or sitting position which is know as orthostatic hypotension in which your blood pressure is drooped my sudden movements like standing after lying or sitting for prolonged time.It is not actually a serious problem.You can have your blood pressure checked.But it may also be caused by allergy,vomiting,diarrhea,stress,anxiety etc.Many non-prescription or prescription drugs may also cause this.If it is severe consult your doctor.Thank you.

It seems that your husband might have postural hypotension.
In this condition while standing up from sleeping position, there is sudden drop of blood pressure giving rise to this problem.
Consult your doctor and get his blood pressure measured from sleeping and standing position.
Stand up gradually and slowly while getting up from sleeping position.
Ok and take care.
