Hi,
Nice to know that you are an intern.
Green stool with
fever is indicative of an intestinal bacterial infection. Yeast can be found in most stool sample.
And Negative tests do not rule out infection in many a cases like gram negative bacterial infection and immunity of the person.
Hence clinical evaluation, an actual examination and then correlation with the reports can help to get a proper diagnosis and carry on the medications on this basis.
Blood tests will reveal if there is any raised
WBC count indicating bacterial infection.
Get her started on a proper antibiotic active against intestinal infection,
Metronidazole as per body weight.
Supportive treatment in the form of intravenous fluids and electrolytes.
You have not mentioned whether the problem started on admission or after diagnostic D & C.
If this has started after D & C then complication of uterine perforation must be born in mind, invested accordingly and treated so.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon
