Diagnosed With Post Traumatic Stress Due To Head Injury. On Zoloft And Clonozapan. Treatment?
My sister has voice hallucinations and was diagnosed with post traumatic stress due to a head injury in 1983 and was prescribed Zoloft and Clonozapan. She says she doesn't get very much benefits from these medicines, as continues to hear voices. She hears other sounds such as gun shots and buzzing sounds. Is there anything you can tell her that may help in finding solutions. She lives in Hilo, Hawaii.
After reading the history in question I would like to advise you to please visit a Psychiatrist again for opinion. In PTSD most common finding seen is re-experiencing the event and having severe anxiety. True hallucinations are rare. She had head injury and she is hearing the voices like gun shots or buzzing sounds. The sounds she is hearing may be due to some psychotic process. So there is need for reassessment. Secondly she is on right drugs for PTSD and Sertaline and Clonazepam are nice drugs for this disorder, but as she is still having symptoms so please take her to a Psychiatrist for evaluation.
Thanks
