Diagnosed Fibromyalgia, Type 2 Diabetes, Numbness. What Is Going On?

hi,
i am a 47 year old male and i was diagnosed with Fybromialgia back in 2009 by a rhumatologist (specialist). I was also diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in August 2012. My question is can men also suffer from Fybromialgia? Sometimes I feel that ants are crawling up and down my legs and numbness. I am under a doctors care but I do not get straight answers.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Fibromyalgia is a commonly encountered disorder characterized by chronic widespread musculoskeletal pain, stiffness, paresthesia, disturbed sleep & easy fatigability along with multiple painful points, which are widely & symmetrically distributed .
Fibromyalgia affects predominately women in ratio of 9 to 1 compared to men, i.e. 10 -20 % men also suffers.
Feeling of crawling sensation may be due to paresthesia ( due to fibromyalgia or due to diabetes).
As you stated that you are taking treatment , so keep it regular .
Only one thing is important don't be careless about your disease and drugs.
Hope I have answered your question.
If further any question I will help.
Good luck.

hi,
yes men also suffer from fybromialgia and your feeling of ants crawling up and down can be both due to diabetes as well as fybromialgia. get checked about your HbA1C and also tests for diabetic neuropathy.

wish you good health
