Diagnosed Early Menopause. Prescribed Calcium Tablets. Have Sore Nipples, White Discharge
I was diagnosed with early menopause few months ago. I've just turned 46. My GP suggested to start taking HRT which I objected. He prescribed calcium tablets to safeguard me from osteoporosis. I was too much of a shock & I just couldn't accept the menopause new. I was experiencing all the menopausal symptoms & dryness. I self diagnosed myself by taking 800mg of follic acid, vitamin b6 daily for 2 months up to date & l-arginine for the first month only. Since last week, I've experience sore sore nipples & for the past 3 days, I've noticed thick white discharge (not smelly). I'm sexually active. What could be the cause of the sore nipples & the discharge?

Menopause is often accompanied by soreness of breasts.
Sore breasts are indicative of fluctuating hormone levels, which can occur at any epoch in a woman's life, when hormonal changes occur - puberty, menarchae, pregnancy, pre menstrual phase, menopause etc.
The white discharge could be due to atrophic vaginitis ( atrophic fragility of the endometrium due to decreasing hormonal levels ).
Please have a gynecological exam to confirm this possibility.
If the symptoms are intolerable, then go for HRT , and yes, do not self medicate.
Calcium is a must after menopause, as is vitamin D.
