Diagnosed Bad Kidneys, Heart Disease. Have Diabetes. Unhealthy Lifestyle With Intake Of Sweets And Alcohol. Guide

My husband has had diabetis for many years and as of yesterday we were told he has bad kidneys and heart disease; having open heart surgery with 3 by passes and one questionable by pass by. I told him that he should think of finally taking care of himself for himself and US. He responded with "This is my life not yours." I am devasted. What do you say or do with someone like this.
He has always eaten sweets and alcohol as if he was not diabetic. He has always said he wants to live the way he wants to live. It is hard to watch. Do I only have one choice!

Hello,
Uncontrolled diabetes over a period of years results in various complications and damage to almost all the organs of body including heart, eyes, kidneys, nerves, blood vessels etc.
Your husband has already had by pass surgery and having bad kidneys.
Once chronic kidney disease sets in,the pace of deterioration of overall health gains speed.
It is high time that your husband quits sweets, alcohol and starts taking proper medications along with dietary control.
Even if he becomes sincere now,he can add some life otherwise all these signs are very bad.
The problem is that controlling diabetes is not just taking medications only,it involves total participation of the person.Once the person himself is not interested in his life, very sorry to say that nothing can be done.
May god bless you and your husband and pray to the god that he starts thinking rationally and correctly.
Thanks
