Delayed Periods Even After Taking Gynaecosid Pills. History Of Having Unprotected Sex. Possible Injury To Baby In Case Of Pregnancy?

Hi Dr. Nirja, I am married and had unprotected sex with my husband. Missed my period for 21st July. It means my period is 1week 2days late. I took Gynaecosid pills 3days ago. There is no sign of my period coming. Please advice what to do as I and my husband are not AT ALL ready for a baby now. Does it mean that the baby is still alive if period doesn't show? And what are chances or probability that the baby would be or not be deformed/injured? Please help. Am in need of your candid advice. Thanks.

hi,
now get the urine pregnancy test before you do anything. if positive then you meet the gynecologist and get Medical Termination of Pregnancy. there are safer drugs available now to terminate in early pregnancy Mifepristone and Misoprostol which can be used more effectively.

wish you good health

General & Family Physician Dr. Nsah Bernard's  Response
Hello,

thanks for posting on HCM,

Very first cause of missed period that needs to be ruled out is pregnancy. If you have a delay of over 1week, then it is best you go through a pregnancy test first after we may consider gynaecosid side effect. Taking pills without the consent of a doctor could reveal fatal or dangerous i.e may lead to severe bleeding.
So in the future it is best you avoid that. If your period persist not coming, then you should see a gynobs who can examine you and run some tests.

Hope this helps
