Could High Cholesterol Be Caused By Taking Citalopram For 10 Years?

I have been on 10-20mg citalopram for 10years. I have recently been diagnosed with high cholesterol. It was 10 but with a very low fat diet I have managed to get this down to 8. I have been reading that citalopram could cause this. If I wean myself off will this improve the cholesterol again

Hi i read your query.

There isn't any clear evidence to associate prolonged use of citalopram with hypercholesterolemia.

The hypercholesterolemia is associated with anxiety and depression.

Hope i answered to your query.
