Could Having Low Platelet Count Be Because Of Medical Diagnosis Of Atrial Fibrillation/sinus Tachycardia?

Hello. I am currently a nursing student and I am putting together a care plan for my resident. One part that I am stuck on is that my resident has all normal lab findings with the exception of low platelet count. I am thinking that it could be because of the medical diagnosis of atrial fibrillation / sinus tachycardia? Please help to clarify and understand why. Thank you!

Hi,

Atrial fibrillation or sinus tachycardia by itself cannot cause low platelets. Low platelets can be caused by infections, offending medications and sometimes idiopathic (unknown reasons). Please take detailed clinical history.
