Could Bloating, Cramping, Constant Urgency To Have Bowel Movement Be Due To IBS?

I am 53 years old and wondering if I have IBS. Stomach issues for weeks now. bloating, cramping, no diarrhea but I feel an almost constant urgency to have a bowel movement. Seems like it is getting worse. My diet is pretty clean, no sugar or flour, whole grain only, vegies and protein daily. How do I know if it is IBS?

Hi,

Thanks for writing to HCM.

IBS is actually a diagnosis of exclusion...we try to exclude various causes...if all are excluded then its ibs...

Try eating oats, fresh curds and bananas for a week or so...if it dosent improves...get a colonoscopy done...to help exclude other causes..
