Could Black Mold Be The Cause Of Rashes And Tonsillitis?

We have a bunch of black old in our home and have not been able to get rid of it yet. One of my roommates has developed tonsillitis, another has a rash on his arms, and the dogs are even developing chew spots from increased licking and scratching. I am wanting to know if the black mold in our home could be the cause of this?

Hi.

Welcome to HCM.

Black mould is most commonly aspergillus fungi which grow very easily on damp wet walls and can cause allergic skin rashes, sinus problems, asthma and rarely throat infections. The route of infection is most commonly inhalation of spores which are dispersed in the area where the mould is growing.
I would suggest getting rid of the black mould as soon as possible with disinfectant sprays and fresh painting.
Thanks.
