Could A Wart On Upper Lip Be Due To HPV Infection?

Hi, approximately 2 yrs ago a small wart like white object appeared on my upper lip towards the inner portion. It was biopsied and benign of cancer but was diagnosed as squamous papilloma. I was never told if it was contagious or how it might have been contracted. I am gay and I was with a woman for 2 yrs who doesn't believe she has it but did have pre-cancerous cervical cells. No doctor told me whether I could spread it to someone else or if this means I have HPV now? I have kissed other people now and now I am worried could I give it to them? The woman I was with for 2 yrs didn't get it so does that mean it isn't contagious? I have read different articles online saying it is like a wart but is known to be non-contagious and does not spread and can be removed by excursion. If it is taken out does that mean I won't be contagious anymore if it is?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A white colored lesion on the lip could be due to HPV infection.
The possibility of wart is more because you are sexually active.
Surgical excision followed by histopathological examination will be helpful in determining the exact nature of the lesion.
The HPV virus can be transmitted by oral route or sexual route.
The HPV virus has predilection for lining of upper aero-digestive tract and reproductive tract.

Practicing safe sex by using barrier methods of contraception will avoid the transmission of infection.
In case you test positive for HPV infection, you can treatment for the infection.
