Could Mirena Be Causing Vaginal Discharge And Burning Pain?
I had mirana placed about two weeks ago. I do have herpes. I found out about my herpes in 2004 and only had one outbreak since finding out. Since placing the mirana I have had nothing but problems in my vagina area. From tingling to discharge to it just feels like its burning. The doctor gave me some medicine for the pain and some for a infection but nothing is working long term. Now they have me on valtrex. Have been taking for three days and it seems to be getting worse. The pain that is. My question should I have the mirana removed and is that the cause of the pain.

In anyone who had a Mirena IUD inserted who is experiencing pain and abnormal discharge needs evaluation. This evaluation would include a pelvic exam AND an ultrasound to make sure that the IUD is in the proper location. Given that the pain mediation and antibiotics are not working, even if the IUD is in the proper location, the only way to sort this out may be to have the IUD removed.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
