Cold, Chest Congestion, Cough, Sore Throat, White Dot On Tonsils, Swelling. Treatment Options?

I currently have a cold with chest congestion and the coughing has caused my throat to become sore. I noticed a small white dot on my right tonsil and when I went to remove it with a Q-tip, the pressure caused yellowish pus to come out. Afterwards the tonsil didn t hurt anymore and was no longer swollen, however the left side still is and is not secreting pus. What can I do? I have tried gargling salt water.

Hi,
This is a classic presentation of Acute Follicular Tonsilltis.
You should have a proper treatment for 05 days that include combination of...
1. An antibiotic such as Augmentine 625 mg twice a day or according to body weight for 05 days
2. An oral decongestant such as Loratidine twice a day for 05 days
3. An antitussive for cough such as Syrup. Cofcol 02 TSF thrice a day for 07 days

You will be fine within a day or couple with that treatment
I hope I am sucessful in solving your query If you have more you can ask me.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Azhar Sattar
