Child With Fever And Diarrhea. Giving Adol. Need Further Medication?

Hi Dr,

My child was having cold for 2 days now and a little bit of fever. around 37.8-37.9. every 8 hrs time we gace him adol. Now the cold is much better but suddenly loose mortion is started for him. He is 2.5yrs old. What can be the problem, because of cold can he get loose mortion. Other than adol we have not given him any medicine. Thx

hi there, it is ok to give the antipyretic when the baby is having fever and no the loose motion is not because of the medicine. Looks like your child is suffering from viral infection which explains the fever and cold, this viral infection can also give rise to viral gastroentritis and which explains the loose motion,. these are usually self limiting and so see to it that the child gets plenty of fluids in the form of juices and ORS.Do not restrict his food and within a day or two he should be fine. Take care.
