Hi ,
Thank you for your query.
Do not panic.
The liver is usually palpaple in a 3yr old child. The liver can be enlarged for various reasons. The commonest cause being fatty liver. But it has to be certified after an ultrasound examination.
Hepatitis is one cause of liver enlargement which is usually associated with jaundice.Let the test results come.

Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Usually liver is palpable in children1 to 1.5 cm below the costal margin and the extent of enlarged liver from rib margin is important to say whether it is significant or not.
So clinical examination to see the liver enlargement, and investigations like X-ray, ultrasound abdomen, and liver function test to be done to know the involvement of the liver to rule out any structural, functional problems like hepatitis.
Hope I have answered your query.
