Thank you for your query,
The constipation is common around this age group and is called functional constipation.
Dietary fiber rich foods like vegetables, green leafy vegetables and fruits to be given on every day basis as the fiber will make stool bulky and retain water in it making soft for easy passage.
Give plenty of water and encourage the child to go toilet daily.
Whenever he is passing hard stool you can give lactulose syrup for three to five days and you can stop when the stool is loose.
Hope I have answered your query.
