Child Have Fracture In The Index Finger

my son is 9 years old and some how he spiral fractured his left index finger under his knuckle and then he was being bad got an open hand spank and it swelled up like a balloon no bruice or red marks at all just swelling how could a spiral fracture acure on his hand in that area is my question and when he got the spank did it flare it up?

hello. your son might have hit his index finger on a hard surface which can cause such a fracture. If it did not heal properly any trauma to it can aggravate the injury. has an orthopedic surgeon seen it? He might need a buddy splint while its painful or swollen and analgesic medication.
