Child Has Red Skin On Neck And Back, Itching. No Fever Or Raised Marks. Any Ideas?
My granddaughter has suddenly started getting bright red skin, on her neck and back. She says it itches but there are no raised marks like most rashes. Her temp is normal. The marks look like a severe sunburn but she has not been exposed to the sun today and it is mainly on her neck around her ears and down her back across her stomach and bright around her belly button. Any ideas to what to do?
From the information you have provided, this most likely represents and allergy. What the cause is can be difficult to tell. However, look around try to figure out if there is any strange thing in the environment that the child was exposed to or not. also check if you bough any new jewelries, etc for her.
Trying drugs like benadryl would relieve her of these symptoms. healing would most likely occur over the next few days. The most important thing is to identify the culprit and eliminate it lest it becomes repetitive.
I hope this addresses your query fully. If you have any more concerns, please do not hesitate to come back. I wish her well. Dr. Ditah, MD.
with history mentioned it seems your child has urticarial rashes which is mainly due to any allergy.you just need to give antiinflammatory medicines to your baby for a short course.just take an expert consultation for the proper dose of the medicine, as neither the weight nor the age is mentioned here.
