Child Has Elevated ALT And AST. High CPK Level. Reason?

my son is 20 months now he is very active and reaching all milestones. three months before we went for a general checkup at that time doctor said your son is not improving height and weight and head circumference too. so we had a blood test in that test everything was normal except his alt and ast slightly elevated.so he referred GI specialist.we went to GI 4 days before. He did some tests and told your sons total cpk value is 4588 U/L. so i am suspecting this may cause MD in future.so he referred to neurologist.i am very confused he is normal then why his cpk level is high.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

CPK is usually elevated in conditions such as Duchene's Mucsular Dystrophy and other muscle related problems.

Liver enzymes also elevated in problems of liver and AST is elevated in muscular problems.

What about his mile stones?

Is he walking without any support?

Any family members are suffering with any neuro related or muscular related problems?

Complete examination, assessment of neurological state, and further investigations like MRI brain and muscle biopsy is important to come to a conclusion.

Consult the pediatric neurologist for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
