Hi

thanks for writing to health care magic.

in your child with diarrhea and vomiting you should first look for dehydration.

the following are the signs of dehydration

dry mouth
sunken eyes
lethargy
irritability
decreased skin elasticity... when pinched it does not go back quickly
decreased passage of urine

normally we rehydrate the child with ORS or IV fluids depending on the clinical scenario

You may contact me with further details on the following URL...........

In such scenario the questions are directly forwarded to me .............. and I can answer your queries regarding your kid online regularly.

Hope this helps.
Take care

Pediatrician Dr. E Venkata Ramana's  Response
Hi Annie,
Thank you for your query,
Your child is having gastroenteritis which may be due to a virus or a bacteria.
For vomitings you can give an antiemetic like ondansetron in prescribed dosage.
Give sips of oral rehydration solutions like Pedialyte, coconut water, and lemon water to prevent dehydration.
Monitor her hydration by urine output, skin turgor, and tongue moisture.
Consult your Pediatrician for the assessment and further treatment.
Hope I have answered your query.
