Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Child. Recurred Big, Red Blotches All Over Back And Leg After Getting Up From Sleep, Reduced While Awake. Any Ideas?
My Grand Son is 4 years old and he woke up this morning with big Red blotches all over his back and legs we put some calimine on and they went away when he took his nap he woke up with the same thing all covered with red blotches and welts and some red bumps but they seem to go away when he get up and plays for a while
It appears that your grandson is allergic to something and the welts/urticaria is the result. You can give him an anti-allergic medication like certizine and try to find the cause of the allergic reaction.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
One of the common causes for such a rash could be skin allergy. A physical examination will confirm the same.
Normally such allergies are associated with family history of allergies and may be associated with othe allergies like allergy of nose (allergic rhinitis), asthma etc. Is your child having such history?
In such scenario your doctor will prescribe antihistaminics after confirming the diagnosis. Calamine lotion application may be useful.
Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. This rash seems like an allergic rash mostly due to some allergic factor in his bed. Examine carefully his bedding for allergen and if you find any remove it. You can apply calamine lotion 8 th hourly externally over rash. If there is itching an oral antihistamine can be given in prescribed dose. Consult his pediatrician for clinical examination and for medication. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
