Causes For Change In Bowel Habits And Apetite Loss After Kidney Lithotripsy
I had a left kidney lithotripsy done on 11/22/13 for a 5mm stone. I have had severe change in bowel habits since that time, including nausea, distention, inability to move bowels. Upon KUB xray 3 weeks later I was told to have colonscopy and that I had an ileus (told by RN at Urologist office) CT of abdomen reveals 5mm stone still present. Colonscopy was negative. I have lost 10 pounds and when I eat anything of significance, about 2 hours later I get left sided abdominal pain lateral to my belly button. It feels "like a snake who swallowed a big animal" and I feel the food trying to pass through. I have only diarrhea or minimal amounts of stool with heavy laxative use. I feel like I am getting malnourished and am fearful to eat much.
hi Welcome to Healthcare-Magic Greetings of the day These symptoms are likely to be due to loaded colon, causing retention of loads of fecal matter in colon, any intake of food will cause distension and discomfort. The diarrhoea is not true but spurious, due to leakage of feculent stools below the impacted stools. Daily retention enema with Glycerine and normal saline will be beneficial. Take Care
