Hi,

Usually, ulcerative colitis can only be treated to reduce the inflammation, but cannot be cured permanently.

You ended up as a diabetic due to prednisone use as it is a corticosteroid. I'd suggest to consult with the diabetologist/endocrinologist if the diabetes you have been diagnosed is caused by use of prednisone.

If yes, then, once prednisone is stopped, your blood sugar levels will be back to normal again. Unfortunately, prednisone and other cortisonics are used to treat ulcerative colitis as well, so triggering/aggravating possible diabetes.

Please have regularly follow ups with your endocrinologist and GI specialist!
All the best!
