Can Strep Throat Be Diagnosed From Stool Sample?

I have a 1 yr old, that has been vomiting and having watery stools about once a day for a week. I've also noticed her cheeks are abnormaly red in the evenings. I took her to the dr. She checked her throat and said she did not have strep throat and it was likely a stomach virus. I am still concerned it could be something else, and I've also read that sometimes strep throat doesn't manifest itself with white patches in the throat. Upon my insistence, the dr. asked me to bring back a stool sample. If it were strep throat, could it be diagnosed from the stool sample?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Symptoms of vomiting and watery stools suggests a gastrointestinal tract infection (GIT) and not a throat infection.
GIT infections can be picked up on stool examination thus stool sample is asked for.
There is no evidence of throat infection thus, be sure that there is throat infection.
Streptococcus bacteria does not cause GIT infection.
Anaerobes are the most common bacteria causing GIT infection.
In case there is associated parasitic infection, it can be picked up on stool examination.

Thanks and take care
