Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my wife s blood pressure is 78/51 and the heart rate is 72 , ussually she is a high blood pressure person she is taking medication for it Lisinopril 20 mg. sand she was fine for a number of years, but 5 months ago we were rear ended an since then is alwais ups and downs, expecially whenshe takes OXICODNE for her pain.. what can i do to make her blood pressure go up a leats to 120/80?
Opioid medications including Oxycodone can decrease blood pressure but the effect is not significant enough to cause a steep drop in blood pressure. Hypertension management requires routine visits to your doctor and dosage adjustments on a continuous basis as many factors can influence blood pressure including exercise, diet, weight loss, etc. The ideal thing would be to see your doctor who may adjust the dosage of Lisinopril to a lower dose.
Another thing to keep in mind is making sure that she is well hydrated as dehydration can lower your blood pressure. The most important advice would be to take her to ER and making sure that she is not walking by herself. Give her physical support as with a blood pressure of 78/51 she is at increased risk of fainting.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
